Welcome to Issue Space (Again 😇)

A new place to bring the Space to life.

Hi friend,

How are you?

I’ve been soul-searching over these past few months, and not just for myself.

As you know, I envision Issue Space as a place for you – the person who believes that, through careers that give something back to society, we can look out for each other even as we look out for ourselves.

You know, like this:

Okay, this is a bit transactional. But you get what I mean!

Purpose-driven work isn’t always an easy choice. Quite the contrary. But when I look at the state of the world and hear the heartbreak as programs of care, service, and support are lost, I just know – it matters. And I think the effort to help build a better world while building something for yourself should be honored and the people uplifted.

As for Issue Space, we’re in an uncertain but exciting stage of life at nearly eight months old (!). With one season of a podcast, a healthy sprinkling of thought-starter-y content, and our first live event behind us, we’re primed with possibilities for what this Space could blossom into.

Just in time for Spring.

And so come the questions – what do we want to be for and with one another through Issue Space? What will help us be our best, most reflective, most effective personal and professional selves in this particularly complex moment in time?

The soul-searching continues.

For a start, I’m exploring a new home for our Issue Space newsletters – which include podcast announcements, event invitations, perspectives from social impact career folks, and a reflective monthly essay from me – in this archive. I think that, now more than ever, social impact pros need ways of reaching one another with affirming, honest, and connective content, and my hope is that this landing place makes it easier to share and discover exactly that. As an Issue Space subscriber, you can just enter your email address to dive in.

Looking ahead, I am * bursting * with thoughts about new ways we can come together in smart conversation and supportive community. But I don’t need to tell you how weird and wild this moment is. Moving with intention, investing in the right things, and partnering with folks in thoughtful ways is more important now than ever. So please give me – us – grace as we figure out how to go after what’s next.

Oh, and one last very important thing –

We’ve been on a quest to name the Issue Space fandom. A new entry is in – what do you think?

Name our fandom: the legend continues

New reader suggestion "Space Nation" – is this a fitting fandom name for Issue Space?
