All culture, no war ✌🏾
About those three little letters...

Hey, friend!
I know what you’re thinking.
DEI — do we have to go there?
It’s been an exhausting few years, ‘culture wars’-wise. But for many in the social impact sector and beyond, ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ aren’t just trending topics or even principles — they’re at the heart of the more safe, fair, open, and compassionate world we work toward every day.
So we’re here for the conversation! What is it like navigating DEI dynamics in the social impact space…particularly when you’re facing the same roadblocks and dangers that DEI is meant to destroy?
We couldn’t ask for a better person to unpack all this with than Janna Pea, an advocate and amplifier of all things impact-and-culture who’s worked on most of the major movements in recent history. Janna came through the Space and put all our complicated feelings on the table in Episode 6 of the Issue Space podcast: ✨ Equitable Expectations: How One Impact Pro Defines Her Worth Beyond DEI. ✨

Some of you might hear your own questions, frustrations, experiences, and conundrums in this candid one-on-one. Let us know!
And, if you’re at all interested in hearing my story of DEI at work and in my family roots, this is the episode to tune into as well. 😌

Before you go…
I just want to say (because they never will) that the voices of the down-to-earth, perfectly imperfect social impact pros you hear in each episode of the Issue Space podcast are low-key kind of a big deal.
There’s Gissou Nia, the human rights lawyer who is one of just a handful in the WORLD who’s an expert on accountability for human rights violations in Iran under the Islamic Regime.
…Adrianne Wright, the communications pro whose spontaneous share at a rally for survivors of assault set off a wave of brave storytelling whose effects continue to this day.
…Ken Smith, the businessman who quietly diversified the supplier pipeline of one of the biggest consultancies on the planet for twenty-six years.
…Marisa Kabas, the indie journalist who made a sport — and a TV news segment — out of calling out a political conman.
…Jess Weiner, just the woman who created the iconic Dove Real Beauty campaign and made Barbie relevant for the 21st century. That’s all!
