That’s how I feel when I listen to our latest episode of the Issue Space podcast, “Off the Clock: How Impact Pros Live Their Values at and Outside Work.”

When I first invited digital organizer and impact entrepreneur Bryant Silva, creative producer and public artist Matthew Chavez, and human rights lawyer turned private sector impact bawse Michele Lampach to join me for this conversation, I thought we’d talk about their extracurriculars.

After all, these are all impact pros who find ways to supplement their day jobs with even more mission-driven work – and at a time when changemakers are being shaken, restructured, and pushed out of their professional roles, I thought a little inspo about other ways to keep change alive would go a long way.

And it certainly did! But as with the best conversations, it also offered so much more than I’d expected…

But the biggest reminder of all? That the real roots of social change don’t come from an organization, or from an org chart. They come from the heart, drive, and legacy of every person who commits themselves to a cause. 

And from what shapes them! An act of kindness felt far from home. A grandparent’s unforgettable story of survival. A lesson in resistance learned from a father. These are the brightest sparks of social connection and positive change, no matter what day job you hold or career curveballs you face.
